Using gpedit.msc to fine tune Windows XP

Does the box demanding you use Ctrl + Alt + Esc bother you? It really isn't necessary. Use can turn it off.
Under the pcadmin login, go to Run and type gpedit.msc for the Group Policy window seen below (note that this is Windows XP - 2000 is very similar just some different items and order). Navigate down to the Security Option
Local computer policy > Windows Settings > Security settings > Local policies > Security Option

On the right panel find the Interactive logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL
( with Win XP will need to increase the Policy list size and scroll down a line or two)
Check the Enabled choice and OK

Above that one (or below in Win2000) is the Interactive logon: Do not display last user - would be useful when every student needs to use own login on general computers.

Does Window XP Desktop Cleanup pop up other you? Does me!
This is what I call the "mother nag complex" that keeps saying yoiu have unused shorcuts and wants to creat a new folder to put them into. You can remove that bug, er feature, in group policy also. See below where to do it.
Local Computer Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Desktop
Can select Remove the Desktop Cleanup Wizard and check Enabled
